Dear Dr. Ecommerce:

Can you point me to relevent EU regulations regarding the delivery of prescription medicines by post or other means?

Thanks,

Ewan

Dear Ewan:

I cannot. But my buddy and European policy expert Elina Kaartinen (editor of E-policy News) can. She says...

"While there is no direct regulation concerning the delivery of prescription medicines by post or other means,. the issue falls under general regulation on distance selling. Also, the e-commerce directive will apply in the future (it must be transposed to each member state's national legislation before 17 January 2001). You will find the relevant legislation from:

http://europa.eu.int/ISPO/ecommerce/legal/distance.html

http://europa.eu.int/ISPO/ecommerce/legal/legal.html#frame

http://europa.eu.int/comm/dgs/health_consumer/index_en.htm

For more information on consumer protection and public health related e-commerce questions, please contact: sanco-helpline@cec.eu.int"

Good luck,

Dr. Ecommerce
