Dear Dr. Ecommerce,

I would like to write the business model for company that would offer "Shop for rent" or "Rent a shop", providing the application and infrastructure for merchants who are willing to publish their price lists on www and collect the orders. Could you please recommend some clever, not very generic text, containing smart schemes and pictures on which I could use as the base of my document ?

Thank you in advance for your kindness.

Maziar

Dear Maziar:

I don't know of any books about setting up a "shop for rent", although there are doubtless many such books available. I suggest, however, that you look at such services that already exist. Analyse them as a prospective shopkeeper and customer. Decide what you like and what you don't like, what you think works and what doesn't work and you will have a clearer understanding of the on-line shop market. A few that I have discovered on a quick search include:

http://store.yahoo.com/

http://www.hypermart.net/

http://www.createastore.com/

http://www.citiprice.com/
(note, this site does not seem to work on Netscape!)

http://www.storesonline.com/mall

And a little searching will reveal many more.

Good luck,

Dr. Ecommerce
