Hey Dr:

My company would like to take direct debit from our customers over the internet, we can do this in the UK without any problems. However we would like to expand to Europe and a few other countries. Any info on how to do this - or at least some pointers - would be great.

I think you are on to an interesting idea. I suggest you contact EuroPay an organisation owned and operated by a large number of European banks and devoted to developing payment products and services.
