Hi Dr. ECommerce,

I was wondering how is TeleShoppe created? I understand that it is a site that uses VRML and Java and gives a real shopping experience. What other tools does it use? I would be interested in knowing if some components of creating such a site which can be bought.

Thanks and Regards,

Shelly

Dear Shelly:

I contacted Edinburgh Research and Innovation at the University of Edinburgh and they quickly informed me that Teleshoppe was an ACTS project partially funded by the European Commission. The project synopsis includes contact points. For more information about the project, you can also look at http://www.ccir.ed.ac.uk/applicat/teleshoppe.html and http://feathers.ccir.ed.ac.uk/ where you will find a lot of technical documents related to the project.

In addition, you may be interested in a project called Home VR, which developed a tool-kit for building virtual communities. I saw a demonstration of this project in London earlier this year and was impressed. I also understand the tool-kit is being made available for sale.

Good luck,

Dr. Ecommerce
