29 Nov 2000, Ireland

Dear Dr. Ecommere:

I represent a NGO in Ireland that is looking at setting up a web-site to assist with labour mobility througout the EU. The NGO is part of a European network. We wish to apply for funding for this activity and we are not sure about the best way forward. Could you inform me of any call for proposals that may be applicable or any other route that you would recommend.

The project is ready to be actioned as soon as possible and we are eager to start.

Regards

Dee

Dear Dee:

My old stomping grounds, the Information Society Directorate General, primarily funds research and development projects and focuses on innovative projects. For more information, go to http://www.cordis.lu/ist/. However, it doesn't seem like your project quite fits into the realm of the information society technologies (IST) Workprogramme.

You can also take a look at the Employment and Social Affairs Directorate General's web pages. They seem to have a lot of open calls for tender kicking about.

You can also take a look at all the open calls for tender and proposals on the Cordis web site - there are over 150 there - so very possibly one of them will fit your project.

But don't be too eager! No one has ever complained about the European Commission acting too quickly on funded projects. There is a reason for this.

Good luck,

Dr. Ecommerce
