Hi Dr. Ecommerce:

I am sending this question from Bangalore,India.

I require software development contracts/subcontracts. Mine is a startup venture and lack sufficient funds at this stage to acquire consultancy services. I will have to rely solely on online information.

We have with us currently five qualified, experienced engineers who are competitive and can deliver products with total quality, meeting International standards, compliance & precision - as per user requirement & time frame

Give me information about US, Canadian, UK and European companies who currently have development requirements. [System level programming, database management, web page designing, hosting, maintenance]

How to contact them?

Give me full corporate information, contact links, sites, consultants, who can provide me with some contracts.

Kindly see my earnest request & reply at the earliest.

Thanking You,

Elrohi

Dear Elrohi:

As I would say to my three year old son, "say 'please', please."

Unfortunately, I am not your business development manager - so you'll have to do your research yourself. Yahoo is a great tool for getting leads. If you click on categories focusing on business areas and countries that interest you, you can find a lot of potential customers. However, you must email each prospect individually and explain why your services could benefit them. If you send the same form letter to everyone, you will be accused of spamming them, which would result in damage to your credibility and possible loss of your Internet account. So make sure every unsolicited email you send is clearly written for the perspective client.

Another good method of developing contacts is by participating in online discussion forums and online communities focusing on International business or software development. The Association for International Business is an excellent forum. You should not, and cannot, sell yourself on this forum. But if you contribute regularly by answering people's questions and starting interesting discussions you will find that people will read your signature file, check out your web site and business will develop that way.

If you go to http://www.topica.com and http://www.egroups.com, you will discover links to thousands of discussion forums, several of which will surely be of interest to you.

Good luck,

Dr. Ecommerce
