Greetings Dr Ecommerce: I'm a freelance business development consultant from the Philippines, with extensive experience focused on financial services, apparel and footwear, engineering and construction, and professional services markets. Internet usage here is growing and many companies, big and small, are planning to enter e-commerce. Do you know of e-entrepreneurs in Europe interested in investigating the market here, I could like to serve as their resource for information, knowledge and intelligence on the Philippine market. Thank you for your help.
Dear Vic: I don't know of any European firms specifically interested in the Philippines just now, but I am sure there are a number of them. However, I suggest you do two things to try and connect to such firms. 1. Get involved in European e-commerce related discussion forums such as NowEurope and eRevolution. Also, look at the Association of International Business . I'm sure I don't need to tell you not to simply ask for business. Rather, get involved in the discussion, ask questions. Answer questions when you can and generally demonstrate your expertise. Soliciting for sales on such discussion lists generally results in being kicked off. Being a regular contributor makes people trust you and look to you when they need a service such as you offer. 2. I expect there are a lot of people in Europe who would be interested in the Philippines if they knew what your country had to offer. Instead of promoting yourself as an expert for companies wanting to break into the Philippine market, perhaps you should promote the Philippine market and yourself as a means of breaking into it. One last note, I took a look at your web site and I think your rates are too inexpensive by European standards. People associate quality with price and, if your rates are too low, business are not likely to think: "he's good value for money". Rather they are likely to think: "He can't be very good if he's only charging that much!" Good luck! Dr. Ecommerce
