What is EDI?

Thanks

Keftedakis

Dear Keftedakis:

EDI is Electronic Data Interchange. It is basically a structured means of sending data from one computer to another in such a way that the receiving computer can interpret and use the data. EDI was (and still is) widely used for business to business electronic transactions.

Today, the Internet provides a variety of alternatives to EDI and EDI is becoming less commonly used.

For an introduction to EDI, take a look at http://ganges.cs.tcd.ie/4ba2/edi/
