Dr. Ecommerce,

I'm a student, doing a research for Netherlands-based company. The company wants to know what the possibilities are for a technical wholesale company to do electronic business with other business partners.

Can you tell me where I can find other companies in this sector that already started with e-commerce applications?

Can you tell me where I can find general information?

Thanks in advance,

Simon

Dear Simon

The first place for the company to check is with its existing partners. Find out whether and how they are implementing electronic solutions to their business. By analysing what your suppliers and customers are doing, you will be in a good position to implement a solution that integrates with theirs.

In addition, you should use the search engines like Yahoo, Altavista, Hotbot, Lycos, Excite, etc to find companies that are potential business partners.

For example, if your company produced bicycle tyres, you could check the search engines under "bicycle manufacturers" to find out what solutions your potential customers are using and search under "rubber" wholesalers to find out what your potential suppliers are doing. Lastly, you should check bicycle tyre (check also under the American spelling of 'tire' in this instance as well.) manufacturers to find out what your competitors are up to.
