The following European Commission supported projects have done research and development work on user interface and e-commerce:

In addition, you look at the ESPRIT home page (http://www.cordis.lu/esprit/home.html), which has information about ESPRIT projects, including a search engine that will allow you to locate projects according to key words. Prosoma (http://www.prosoma.lu) also has project information. You should also look at the ACTS (Advanced Communications Technologies and Services) web site at http://www.uk.infowin.org/ACTS/ - which includes project information. A number of projects in both programmes relate to User Interface.

In addition, an American organisation called User Interface Engineering (http://world.std.com/~uieweb/) does a lot of research in this area and their web site is informative.
