Doodle exercises are an entertaining and effective creative exercise suitable for adults and children alike. Doodles are a few lines on a sheet of paper. You simply add to the lines to create a drawing of something (see illustration). You can make your own doodles and hand them to others to complete or you can print out the doodles on these pages. Simply click on the doodle links and print out each page with your printer (with most browsers you can do this by bringing the arrow up to the File button at the top left hand corner of your browser and selecting Print.
If you are a graphic artist, try out our new art doodles as well!
This is what a doodle exercise might look like initially.
Your job is to add lines, colour or whatever you want to create some kind of image from the doodle exercise. In the end, your drawing could look like this - a serpent-headed chap playing football (soccer for our American visitors) - or it could look like anything else. There is no right or wrong way to finish a doodle exercise. Just do it so that it feels right
To do the execises, simply click on the links below. They will open a page with a doodle on it. Print the page and get to work. If you prefer to use a graphics programme, you can save the image to your hard drive and then open it in your favourite graphics programme.
